Item #1022
Die Cut Brass Art Nouveau Chandelier $1500.00 This is an outstanding Art Nouveau Chandelier that dates from around the 1920s and is in excellent original condition. This is a great quality fixture made from brass and suspended by an armature rather than chain. The "die cut" pattern on the sides is art nouveau in style and very intricate. It is lined with curved white opal glass...the part under the candle sockets is lined with a textured amber glass as well as a red glass jewel!! Needless to say all these details look spectacular when lit. Each candle socket has an intricate brass sleeve rather than a cardboard or plastic one....these sleeves match the pattern on the brass ceiling cap. All the brass has a great dark patina with some hints of a natural and lovely green "verre de gris" patina starting in some spots. All the glass is in excellent condition including the large bottom dome shade which has a nice embossed pattern. Two of red the glass jewels are cracked which is only noticeable upon very close inspection and is being mentioned for accuracy. The fixture has been rewired with a new "three way" turn knob switch which will allow you to light the four candles or the bottom dome and sides independently of one another or have all of them on or off at once. The fixture has a total drop of 35" and an overall diameter of 16". The dome shade is about 12" in diameter with a 10" fitter rim. This fixture takes five regular size base bulbs in total...one center, four candles. Truly an outstanding piece of early American lighting that you don't see very often.
