Item #1026
Victorian / Mission Art Glass Chandelier $3295.00 A great example of early North American lighting that is elegant in style and adorned with a rare set of period pulled feather shades that are attributed to Steuben or Durand. It is made from die stamped brass which has a very ornate and detailed pattern. The brass has a nice patina with just a few dark blemishes where the original lacquer seal has broken. This is a high quality fixture dating from 1900-1915...heavy brass chain, lovely two piece shade holders, rare shades...etc. This fixture mounts flush to the ceiling. The style of this fixture will work in a number of settings or motifs including Victorian, Arts & Crafts or Mission. The four period art glass shades have a green pulled feather pattern on white with a gold interior. These shades are unsigned and could have been made by a number of makers of the period like Steuben, Quezal, Lustre Art or Durand....Guaranteed to be period 1900-1915. All the shades are in excellent condition with the exception of some very minor fitter chips. This chandelier was recently removed from an Ottawa area home along with some other high end antique items. The fixture currently measures about 15" square with a 30" drop which can be adjusted by adding or removing some chain links....we have extra period brass chain that matches. If you look closely you can see that someone at one time added a pull chain on/off switch to the fixture....we have replaced the original with a new one. If you don't like the switch we can remove it and cover the hole with brass rosette or cap. More photos available upon request. Back to Fixture Collection |
