Large MCM “Fat Lava” Table Lamp by Maurice Chalvignac

Pending

One of the more rare Maurice Chalvignac “Fat Lava” table lamp with original string shade. Dark, rich chocolate brown and white lava style glaze in a graphic pattern. Shade is mint with fiberglass interior liner. I believe he made these table lamps in three sizes this being the largest and more rare one standing 33″ tall.

Maurice Chalvignac was a Quebec ceramic artist who emigrated to Canada from France in 1957. He made many beautiful pieces, including lamps, wall art, vases, bowls, ashtrays, and more. His work often evoked an organic feel, combined with the flashy orange and gold tones of the era. A true Canadian mid century modern design icon!
